Securing Our Greatest Natural Asset
According to the international non-profit organization, Water for People, 2.2 billion people lack access to clean water. This equates to 1 out of 3 people globally. The US National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine has determined that an adequate daily fluid intake is approximately 3.7 liters of fluids a day for men, and 2.7 liters a day for women. This is roughly 0.75 gallons for women and 1 gallon of water for men. Given that most adults will consume between 275 to 365 gallons of water a year, the need to ensure the purity and preservation of our precious drinking water resources is more critical than ever.
Rising to meet this challenge is complex and starts with keeping our existing water resources clean from harmful pollution, which can include runoff, chemicals, and pesticides from industrial and agricultural discharges, leaking underground storage tanks, spills, and a myriad of other sources, such as natural disasters and other unplanned emergency situations.
While some sources of water degradation are out of our control, such as incidents and natural disasters, there are many factors within our control that can both improve overall water quality and contribute to a more sustainable and responsible water ecosystem. Apex Companies’ engineers and water professionals have experience with the design, implementation, and optimization of new and existing water supply infrastructure for both public and private organizations across the country.
